To our chapter Members and Friends,
Our chapter leadership hopes that you and your family are weathering the COVID-19 situation well. Many of us are working remotely and may have family with them, creating an unusual home life, and this has certainly added to our stress. Please continue to follow the health department recommendations, and don't forget to hydrate! I find myself forgetting to stop and move around, and have to stick notes on my computer monitor reminding me to drink during the day. (water!)
As professionals within the risk management community, you are well aware of the the daily changes in local restrictions, and guidance for social distancing and gatherings of people in large groups. There is talk of easing restrictions, but we have no idea how south Florida will be affected. At this time we must cancel our May meeting. Chapter leadership will continue to meet electronically and we will update everyone regarding the June meeting.
As an alternative in May, we may schedule a video meeting that will allow everyone to get together for a bit and see each other virtually. We're all being inundated with webinars these days, so this would not be another presentation to watch. Details will follow. Keep our future events on your calendar, and we'll update you as quickly as possible via email and on our website. Just a reminder that all of our upcoming events are found on our website under the Meetings/Events tab.
Great resources related to COVID-19 may be found at the RIMS website, and you should also check the Florida Department of Health and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) website for updated advice:
We encourage all of our membership and friends to be proactive in following the common sense advice to prevent illness and avoid exposure to the virus, and guidance provided by the CDC and the Florida Department of Health. Remain calm and focused on our role in Risk Management.
Stay safe and healthy!
