Orthopedic and musculoskeletel injuries are the bane of most employers and risk managers. In this presentation, Dr. Smith will review the several aspects of these injuries.

Dr. Marvin Smith is a sport medicine fellowship trained orthopedic surgeon who cares for patients with conditions involving the knees, shoulders, hips, ankles and elbows. He is bilingual in English/Spanish.
Through advanced training Dr. Smith has developed a special interest in more complex surgical solutions including, but not limited to, multiligamentous knee reconstruction, innovative patellofemoral instability correction, meniscus transplantation, cutting-edge cartilage restoration and joint preservation, and hip arthroscopy. He is also experienced in the more common procedures including ACL reconstruction, meniscus repair, rotator cuff repair, shoulder arthroplasty, and various upper and lower extremity ligament repair/reconstruction.
Having obtained favorable patient outcomes with the use of biologics and ultrasound guided therapeutics, Dr. Smith has incorporated these into his practice as well.
Dr. Smith is a former NCAA Division-1 student athlete. This experience provided him with a great appreciation for Sports Medicine Orthopedics. He is passionate about treating athletes and tactical athletes such as police officers and firefighters and is sensitive to their recovery timelines.
Dr. Smith is a graduate of the University Of Miami School Of Medicine. He completed his internship and residencies in Orthopedic surgery at Jackson Memorial Hospital. His fellowship in Sports Medicine was obtained at the University of Virginia School of Medicine in 2018. He is a practicing physician with Memorial’s Division of Orthopedic and Sports Medicine.
