Does your company have EV charging stations? Do you have EVs parking at your building?
This presentation provides an in-depth examination of the emerging risks at the intersection of electric vehicles (EVs) and the structures we manage, maintain, and insure. We'll address both passenger EVs and low-speed electric vehicles (LSEVs), such as e-bikes, e-scooters, and golf carts powered by lithium-ion battery technology. You will receive guidance for retrofitting existing infrastructure to support the growing adoption of EVs, fire safety best practices, and recommendations for property-level rules and regulations designed to balance the adoption curve with the associated risk exposure.
The objective of this presentation is not to advocate for or against electric vehicle (EV) ownership, but to emphasize that EV popularity is still in its early stages. This underscores the need to prepare for a future of coexistence, not alienation. EVs are here to stay, and owners have a statutory right to both store and charge them on their premises. Therefore, the more owners and associations engage in discussions about scalable charging infrastructure, lithium-ion battery (LIB) safety awareness, and best practices for managing interactions with environmental factors, the more resilient homes and communities will become.
From retrofitting existing infrastructure and creating tailored policies for owners to developing post-event recovery plans, this session will open our playbook for managing a future where buildings and EVs coexist safely.
